Maine: Bill for Data Privacy and Protection Act dies in Senate

On April 17, 2024, Legislative Document 1977 for An Act to Create the Data Privacy and Protection Act died in the Maine State Senate.

If passed, the amended text of the bill would have changed the title to 'Maine Data Privacy and Protection Act' from 'Data Privacy and Protection Act,' in addition to adding requirements for the processing of sensitive data of minors. The bill also would have provided for consumer rights and placed obligations on data controllers.
