Summary: Brandenburg implemented the GDPR through the Brandenburg Data Protection Act (BbgDSG) of May 8, 2018 (only available in German here.
The BbgDSG provides for derogations from the GDPR and data protection requirements within Brandenburg. The BbgDSG particularly emphasises exemptions for public sector activities as well as addressing matters such as collecting personal data from third parties and limits to certain data subject rights.
The State Commissioner for Data Protection and Access to Information Brandenburg (Brandenburg LDA) is the supervisory authority under the BbgDSG. Brandenburg LDA has issued some fines in the past and guidance on notable privacy topics.
