Summary: Saxony-Anhalt implemented the GDPR through the General Data Protection Regulation Completion Act Saxony-Anhalt of 2020 (DSG LSA) (only available in German here), which became effective on February 26, 2020.

The DSG LSA implements the GDPR but also provides certain derogations from the GDPR. The DSG LSA is in many ways similar to the Saxon Data Protection Act of August 25, 2003, as amended to implement the GDPR (SächsDSG) (only available in German here). Both laws are slightly more extensive than their Länder counterparts and address data subject rights and data transfers in more detail. The Sachsen-Anhalt data protection authority (LfD Sachsen-Anhalt) is the supervisory authority under the DSG LSA and has issued a few guidance, including guidance relating to work from home and for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
