Summary: The Schleswig-Holstein Law for the Protection of Personal Data of May 2, 2018 (only available in German here) (LDSG) implemented the GDPR and entered into effect on May 25, 2018.
The Schleswig-Holstein data protection authority (ULD) is the supervisory authority under the LDSG. The LDSG provides for derogations from the GDPR and data protection requirements within Schleswig-Holstein. The LDSG addresses topics such as special processing situations and data subject rights, as well as setting out provisions for international data transfers and data protection officers. The ULD is generally quite active and often releases guidance, which has particularly emphasised the health sector and video surveillance.
