Rhineland-Palatinate: LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz announces data protection sandbox project
On November 12, 2024, the Rhineland-Palatinate data protection authority (LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz) announced that, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Bayreuth, it is creating a data protection regulatory sandbox that companies and authorities will be able to use to test the data protection compliance of their applications before the applications come onto the market.
The LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz outlined that the legal conditions and technical requirements will first be recorded. Then, the sandbox will be comprehensively analyzed from a legal and IT perspective in LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz. At the end of the project, a practical guide will be created facilitating other German data protection authorities in setting up a data protection sandbox.
