Germany: LfDI Baden-Württemberg and LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz take co-chairmanship of DSK AI working group

On November 15, 2024, the Baden-Württemberg data protection authority (LfDI Baden-Württemberg) announced that it would take over the co-chairmanship of the German Data Protection Conference (DSK) artificial intelligence (AI) working group, along with Rhineland-Palatinate data protection authority (LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz).

The LfDI Baden-Württemberg noted that the DSK supports responsible bodies in addressing data protection issues on AI at an early stage and for this purpose, the DSK unanimously decided to set up the AI working group. The aim of the working group is to develop requirements and recommendations for action in order to implement and use AI in compliance with data protection regulations. Additionally, its purpose is to monitor the developments and effects of both AI technologies and AI regulation, make constructive and critical contributions to current discussions on AI, issue handouts and guidance, and help ensure that supervisory activities can continue to develop in an innovation-friendly and risk-specific manner.
