Benin: CNIL publishes 2017 annual report
The Beninese data protection authority ('CNIL') published, on 15 October 2018, its 2017 annual report ('the Report'). In particular, the Report highlights that CNIL, from January to December 2017, adopted 45 deliberations out of 74 cases concerning complaints, requests for opinions from the public and private sector and authorisations in relation to the Law No. 2009-09 of May 22, 2009 Dealing with the Protection of Personally Identifiable Information. Furthermore, the Report notes that CNIL had made 13 authorisations, 27 declarations and had received one self-referral. Finally, the Report indicates that CNIL will contribute to discussions on pertinent issues such as biometrics and technology use.
