Senegal: CDP publishes third quarterly notice for 2024
On November 14, 2024, the Senegalese data protection authority (CDP) published its third quarterly notice for 2024. The notice outlines activities carried out by the CDP, such as examining authorization request files and collecting complaints.
In particular, the notice highlights that the third quarter marked an increase in declarations and requests for authorization to process personal data. The CDP processed 131 files, including 81 declarations, 45 requests for authorization, one request for opinion, and five re-registered files.
Furthermore, the CDP noted the following shortcomings it observed during its inspection missions:
- having no defined policy regarding the retention period of employees' personal data after their departure;
- non-formalized procedures for exercising the rights of individuals; and
- the absence of declaration for certain processing activities.
