Bavaria: BayLDA publishes 2023 activity report

On June 14, 2023, the Data Protection Authority of Bavaria for the Private Sector (BayLDA) announced the publication of its 2023 activity report. The report details the BayLDA priorities and actions taken in 2023.

Key takeaways

The report notes that processing data protection complaints and reports of security breaches continued to take up the majority of BayLDA's resources in 2023. In this regard, the report highlighted that the BayLDA received 5,500 complaints, a 10% increase from the complaints received in 2022. However, the report pointed out that the number of reported data breaches in 2023 fell compared to 2022. According to the report, internet-related complaints dropped in 2023, but complaints related to video surveillance and advertising rose during the period making up almost half of all complaints received.
