West Virginia: Bill for Cybersecurity Programs passes House
On February 28, 2024, House Bill 5338 for a Consumer Data Protection Act and Safe Harbor for Cybersecurity Programs passed the West Virginia House of Representatives and on the same date, it was communicated to the West Virginia Senate. In particular, the bill, among other things, provides for the creation of a cybersecurity program framework. More specifically, the substituted bill only had provisions for the cybersecurity program, and the provisions in relation to consumer data protection, which were included in the bill as introduced, are no longer available in the substitute version.
