Tennessee: Bill creating AI advisory council placed on Senate Commerce and Labor Committee calendar

On March 8, 2024, Senate Bill 2530, a companion bill of House Bill 2325, was placed on the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee calendar for March 12, 2024, following its introduction on February 1, 2024.

If enacted, the bill would create the artificial intelligence (AI) advisory council. The AI advisory council would, until July 1, 2026, be tasked with recommending an action plan to guide awareness, education, and usage of AI in state government that aligns with Tennessees' goals.

Furthermore, the bill would require the AI advisory council to provide a report, including a recommended action plan framework no later than six months from convening and a final report no later than 12 months from convening, containing the findings and recommendations of the council.
