Switzerland: Federal Council calls for draft regulation on AI use in federal administration

On September 13, 2024, the Swiss Federal Council called on the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) and the Federal Chancellery (FCh) to draft a proposal for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the federal administration. The aim of the proposal is to establish a joint strategic approach to AI in the federal administration, in order to encourage synergy, innovation, and trust in the use of AI in all public sectors in Switzerland.

The Federal Council instructed the FDHA and the FCh in cooperation with the other federal departments to draft a proposal by the end of 2025.
