Guernsey: ODPA releases guide following increased cyber attacks

On July 23, 2024, the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) issued a press release regarding the increased number of reports regarding the compromise of Microsoft Corporation's 365 systems following phishing attacks. The ODPA stated that organizations should adopt additional measures to reduce the risk of systems being compromised to include, for example:

  • mail filtering;
  • web filtering;
  • multi-factor authentication (MFA);
  • conditional access controls;
  • monitoring and alerting; and
  • training and awareness.
