British Columbia: OIPC releases 2022-23 annual report
The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC) issued, on August 30, 2023, its 2022-23 Annual Report. The report breaks down, among other things, the OIPC's highlights for the past year including making services more accessible and inclusive, privacy awareness campaigns, and the OIPC's enforcement actions. The report also details privacy reforms in the public sector, as well as a recap of its activity between April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023. Furthermore, the report noted that 249 privacy breach notifications were received, with 179 of those closed, and further details that it had received 441 access complaints and 327 privacy complaints, among other things.
