What is the EU AI Act?
The EU AI Act represents a landmark regulatory framework aimed at promoting the development and utilization of AI within the European Union while ensuring that the associated risks are effectively managed. Introduced by the European Commission in April 2021, the Act seeks to create a harmonized approach to AI regulation across all member states, enhancing trust, safety, and accountability in AI technologies. The EU AI Act entered into effect on August 1, 2024, and places a range of requirements on organizations related to the level of risk their AI systems pose.
