Egypt: MCIT publishes report showing increase of cybersecurity incidents

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology ('MCIT') published, on 11 January 2021, a cybersecurity status report prepared by the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team ('EG-CERT'). In particular, the report focuses on the period between July and December 2020 and indicates a 32%  increase of incidents handled compared to the previous year with 43.84% of them having a medium level of criticality. In addition, the report outlines the types of cybersecurity threats, which include malware and web attacks, data leakages, and phishing.
