Republic of North Macedonia: DZLP adopts rulebook on data transfers
The Directorate for Personal Data Protection ('DZLP') adopted, on 11 May 2020, the rulebook on data transfers ('the Rulebook'). In particular, the Rulebook prescribes the manner of personal data transfers with the Member States of the European Union and third countries. More specifically, the Rulebook covers the form and content of the application for obtaining approval for transfers to and from third countries as well as international organisations, on the basis of the provision of the appropriate safety measures and the approval of a transfer permit. Furthermore, Article 5 of the Rulebook outlines that, when transferring personal data on the basis of binding corporate rules ('BCRs'), the controller or processor must submit, in person or electronically, a request to the DZLP for approval of the BCRs.
