Malaysia: MCMC opens public consultation on draft code of conduct for safer online environment
On October 22, 2024, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) requested public comments on a draft Code of Conduct (best practices) for service providers, following the new regulatory framework applicable to internet messaging and social media service providers.
The draft code outlines the best practices for service providers in order to create a safer online environment for all Malaysians, with a particular focus on protecting children and vulnerable groups from being exposed to harmful content online.
Public consultation is open until November 5, 2024.
