Thuringia: TLfDI presents its activity report for 2023

On September 25, 2024, the Thuringian data protection authority (TLfDI) announced that it presented its 2023 activity report on data protection to Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow on September 24, 2024. The discussion focused on challenges in the areas of social media and artificial intelligence (AI).

The TLfDI outlined in the report that during the reporting period it:

  • received 22,334 inquiries;
  • opened 115 penalty proceedings, with 10 proceedings ending with a notice;
  • issued 32 penalty notices; and
  • imposed fines for which the total amounted to €31,490, with the majority of fines directed at unauthorized video surveillance and with an increase in fines for unauthorized access to IT systems and location of individuals.
