Malaysia: PDP launches public consultation on data protection topics
On August 23, 2024, the Department of Personal Data Protection (PDP) launched a public consultation on breach notification, data protection officer (DPO) appointment, and the right to data portability, following the introduction of amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
The PDP noted that the public consultation aims to obtain feedback from the public for the development of subsidiary legislation and guidelines.
Comments can be submitted through the consultation portal here until September 6, 2024.
