Senegal: CDP publishes third quarterly notice for 2023
The Senegalese data protection authority (CDP) published, on October 25, 2023, its third quarterly notice for 2023. The notice examines, among other things, compliance activities, including applications for authorization and declarations of personal data processing, complaints received, reports from citizens, and on-site inspections carried out. The notice highlights that the CDP processed 66 files, including 37 declarations and 29 authorization requests, in areas, such as video surveillance, website collection, access controls, and biometric attendance systems. As noted by the CDP in the second quarterly notice, the processing of data relating to video surveillance systems installed in establishments open to the public or in private homes remains the most numerous file.
The CDP also confirmed that it carried out six on-site control missions to verify compliance with the simplified standards that govern declarations. Furthermore, the CDP noted that online training and awareness actions were prioritized for better awareness of the law on the protection of personal data.
