Senegal: CDP publishes second quarterly notice for 2023
The Senegalese data protection authority (CDP) published, on July 15, 2023, its second quarterly notice for 2023. The notice examines, among other things, compliance activities, including applications for authorization and declarations of personal data processing, complaints received, reports from citizens, and on-site inspections carried out. The notice highlights that the CDP processed 96 files, including 62 declarations and 34 authorization requests, in areas, such as video surveillance, website collection, and access controls.
The CDP also addressed its deliberation relating to the use of biometric devices in the workplace, which regulates the use of biometric devices in the workplace to control access to buildings and staff time management. Specifically, public or private establishments that are not of a strategic or sensitive nature are limited in their use of fingerprint devices and must have such processing justified by legitimate reasons.
