The Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner ('OVIC') announced, on 3 December 2021, that it is accepting submissions regarding the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) ('FOI Act') guidelines ('FOI Guidelines') and is consulting on the draft content in stages. In particular, the OVIC highlighted that the FOI Guidelines will include guidance for each section of the FOI Act and will include, where relevant:
- OVIC guidance;
- FOI Professional Standards;
- OVIC review decisions;
- case law; and
- examples.
Further to this, the OVIC clarified that, when a draft Part of the FOI Act is ready for public consultation, it will publish it for a minimum period of four weeks.
The OVIC is inviting feedback on the draft FOI Guidelines until 18 January 2022. You can email your submission to [email protected], or complete and post the feedback form to: FOI Guidelines, Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner, PO Box 24274, Melbourne VIC 3001.
