Thuringia: TLfDI releases its activity report for 2022

On July 27, 2023, the Thuringian data protection authority (TLfDI) released its activity report on data protection, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), for the reporting period of 2022. The report provides an overview of the dominant topics, cases, and activities of the TLfDI in the year 2022.

The report, among other things, addresses the question of whether Microsoft 365 can be operated in compliance with data protection. In addition, the report states that the TLfDI issued a total of 55 fines amounting to £31,165 and highlighted that most of the fine notices were directed against the operators of unauthorized video surveillance, including operators in the private sector. More generally, the report examines topics including data retention, cookies, data protection officer conflict of interest, and video surveillance, among other things.

You can read the press release here and the report here, both only available in German.
