On March 22, 2024, the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) published its annual report for 2023. The PDPC summarized the work it had done for the 2023 fiscal year into four parts, including:
- prevention: Through knowledge provision and training provided to government agencies, the private sector, the police, and educational institutions, among others;
- deterrence: By carrying out inspections, investigating violations of personal data protection law, including after receiving complaints, and carrying out arrests;
- joining forces: By proceeding with cooperation and agreements with organizations or agencies and collecting information through the activities and reports of the data protection officers (DPOs); and
- law development: For secondary legislation relevant to controllers, processors, and owners of personal data, including its processing and providing advice and consultations to government agencies, the private sector, and the public.
