Tajikistan: National Bank develops methods for remote identification of e-wallets
The National Bank of Tajikistan ('the National Bank') announced, on 6 July 2020, that it had developed, along with the Financial Monitoring Department and the International Finance Corporation, procedures for the remote identification of clients for low-risk products, in particular for transfer of electronic monetary funds. In particular, the National Bank noted that these procedures will allow financial consumers that have electronic devices with an internet connection and built-in cameras to carry out digital registration and open e-wallets with financial credit institutions in Tajikistan. In addition, the National Bank noted that it will carry out necessary activities with regard to remote due diligence of clients and, in order to ensure sufficient protection measures, risk assessment will be conducted regularly to mitigate risks related to laundering of criminal income and financing of terrorism.
