Paraguay: MITIC announces Coronavirus geolocation app

The Paraguay Minister of Technology and Information and Communication ('MITIC') announced, on 31 March 2020, that it is releasing an app whereby individuals who enter the country can register and update their personal and medical data during the COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') pandemic. In particular, the app will permit the location tracking of these individuals under the General Directorate of Health Surveillance. Furthermore, the MITIC explained that the app is only available to those who must quarantine, and certain essential staff. In addition, the MITIC stated that the app will store official information from the Ministry of Health and will contain the necessary information for essential staff such as action protocols.

MITIC announces new updates to app




The MITIC announced, on 15 April 2020, that the App for tracking and monitoring of people who must be quarantined by COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') is fully functioning and new features have been incorporated. In particular, the MITIC noted that new features include an integrated system with different databases and services to carry out monitoring, including a new module that allows citizens to incorporate contact tracing. Furthermore, the MITIC highlighted that the app's data is managed following good practices regarding security and confidentiality. Finally, the MITIC explained that the app works using geolocation data and provides users with messages and instructions to quarantine correctly.
