Ontario: IPC publishes fact sheet on ransomware
The Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario ('IPC') published, on 13 October 2022, its fact sheet 'How to Protect Against Ransomware'. In particular, the fact sheet discusses how ransomware has become a dangerous threat to the security of electronic records, and provides guidance on how public institutions and healthcare organisations can protect themselves against it.
Moreover, the fact sheet explains what ransomware is, outlines its impact for individuals and organisations, summarises existing legal obligations to safeguard against ransomware, and illustrates recommendations for information security accountability.
