Oklahoma: Bill for Security Breach Notification Act introduced to House of Representatives

Senate Bill 1337 for the Security Breach Notification Act was introduced, on December 21, 2023, to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. In particular, the Bill amends Oklahoma Statute 2021 Title 24 (24 O.S. 2021) which relates to, amongst other things:

  • the duty to disclose breach, notice, enforcement, and application;
  • requiring notice of security breach of certain information;
  • requiring notice to the Attorney General under certain circumstances;
  • specifying the contents of the required notice; and
  • providing exemptions from certain notice requirements.

Moreover, the Bill introduces new definitions to 24 O.S. 2021 Section 162 including 'reasonable safeguards' and 'restricted information.'
