Nigeria: NDPC publishes its strategic plan for 2023-2027
On February 23, 2024, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) published its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (2023–2027) (SRAP). In particular, the SRAP consists of five pillars, including:
- governance;
- ecosystem and technology;
- capacity development;
- cooperation and collaboration; and
- funding and sustainability.
Furthermore, the SRAP provides an estimated timeline for the achievement of its goals, including:
- implementing and promoting awareness of the Nigerian Data Protection Act, 2023;
- improving collaboration with counterpart authorities around the world by 2024;
- developing a data privacy syllabus by 2025;
- exploring new funding opportunities by 2026; and
- creating over 500,000 job opportunities by 2027.
