International: Brazil and Uruguay announce digital services partnership
On November 26, 2024, the Ministry of Management and Service Innovation of Brazil announced that Brazil and Uruguay concluded a partnership for digital services during the Inter-American Digital Government Network's (Gealc Network) 8th ministerial meeting.
The partnership allows Brazilian citizens to access digital services in Uruguay using the Brazilian authentication service GOV.BR and their digital identity card. The Ministry highlighted that the partnership is part of the creation of the Mercosur Digital Citizen project, which will make it possible for citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay to use their digital national identification card to utilize public services in any of those countries.
