Florida: Bill establishing Government technology modernization council presented to Governor for signature

On April 16, 2024, Senate Bill 1680 creating the Government technology modernization council was signed by Officers and presented to the Governor of Florida for signature. This follows the bill's passage in the Senate on February 28, 2024, and in the House of Representatives on March 6, 2024.

The bill would create the Government technology modernization council, whose purpose is to study and monitor the development and deployment of new technologies and provide reports on recommendations for procurement and regulation of such systems to the Florida Governor, the President of the Florida Senate, and the Speaker of the Florida House. In addition, the bill also provides for the composition of the council, its members' terms, and the regularity of meetings of the council. The bill also introduces provisions prohibiting 'generated child pornography.'
