Egypt: NTRA adopts framework for establishing data centres and cloud computing services

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology ('MCIT') announced, on 22 August 2021, that, in line with Egypt's strategy to support digital transformation and boost investments in this field, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority ('NTRA') had adopted a regulatory framework for establishing data centres and introducing cloud computing services. In particular, the MCIT noted that the regulatory framework is modelled on global best practices for the establishment of data centres, that it aims to find the optimal regulatory policies for Egypt's market, and that it will serve as a tool for regulating data centre operations.
