Croatia: ZSIS announces entry into force of Law on Cybersecurity
On February 22, 2024, the Institute for Information Systems Security (ZSIS) announced that on February 15, 2024, the Law on Cybersecurity entered into force. In particular, the Law on Cybersecurity transposes into national legislation the Directive (EU) 2022/2555 (NIS2 Directive).
More specifically, the ZSIS stated that the aim of the Law on Cybersecurity is to ensure the effective implementation of the procedures and measures for achieving a high level of cybersecurity, and for this purpose, the Law on Cybersecurity establishes a new cybersecurity management system in the Republic of Croatia, which entails the reorganization of current competences in the field of cyber security. Further, the Law on Cybersecurity establishes the functionality of the central state body for cybersecurity, whose tasks will be performed by the Security Intelligence Agency (SOA), and for these purposes, the existing Cybersecurity Center of the SOA will be transformed into the National Center for Cybersecurity (NCSC- HR).
You can read the press release here and the Law on Cybersecurity here, both only available in Croatian.
