Chongqing: Big Data Development Bureau issues Pubic Data Classification and Classification Guidelines

The Municipal Big Data Development Bureau of Chongqing issued, on 14 October 2021, a notice on Chongqing City Public Data Classification and Classification Guidelines ('the Guidelines'). In particular, the Guidelines highlight among other things, the scope of public data classification, as well as public data collection, storage, transmission, processing, sharing, opening, destruction, and security management. More specifically, the Guidelines detail that public data is data which is generated, collected, and produced by public management and service agencies in the process of performing their duties in accordance with the law. Furthermore, the Guidelines note that public data is divided into four levels: public data, restricted data, sensitive data, and confidential data, with the level of security for such data and impact on operations dependent on data characteristics.
