Brazil: ANPD publishes audit report of four years of activity
On November 8, 2024, the Brazilian data protection authority (ANPD) published an audit report concerning its four years of activity since the ANPD was established, on the occasion of the celebration of its creation.
The report highlighted the:
- publication of resolutions and guidelines;
- publication of case studies related to the ANPD's enforcement activities;
- inspections conducted by the ANPD as part of its preventative activities;
- sanctions imposed by the ANPD, in a total of six sanctioning processes;
- public consultations and public hearings opened by the ANPD; and
- the ANPD's participation in international events and forums.
Furthermore, the report noted that the ANPD is monitoring the legislative advances concerning artificial intelligence (AI) and intends to build a regulatory framework to ensure both technological innovation and data protection.
