Uruguay: URCDP issue recommendations on body temperature data
The Uruguayan data protection authority ('URCDP') issued on, 18 June 2020, recommendations on personal data protection when using body temperature control devices ('the Recommendations') during the COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') emergency. In particular, the Recommendations highlight that while body temperature does not automatically constitute personal data, once the said data is associated with an individual, and where such individual can be identified or identifiable, then it shall constitute personal data. In addition, the Recommendations outline that the measurement of temperature should only be carried out as long as the Coronavirus emergency persists and that it should end once the said emergency has ceased.
