Canada: Minister to announce launch of AI safety institute

On November 11, 2024, the Government of Canada issued a press release stating that François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, will be joined by officials from the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), the National Research Council of Canada, and others to announce the launch of the Canadian Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute, whose creation was first announced in Budget 2024.
