Qatar: QFCRA opens consultation on whistleblowing framework

The Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority ('QFCRA') launched, on 6 November 2017, a consultation on its proposal to introduce protected reporting rules ('Whistleblowing Framework').

The Whistleblowing Framework is based on international best practice standards, including those set by the the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and aims to create an environment where employees can anonymously report wrongdoing without fear of reprisals from their employer. The Whistleblowing Framework will require firms to establish protected reporting policies, designate a senior individual to oversee its implementation and review the policy every three years. The QFCRA intends to have the Whistleblowing Framework come into effect in April 2018.

The consultation is open until 21 January 2018.
