Sri Lanka: Ministry of Technology opens draft national strategy on AI for public consultation
On September 7, 2024, the Ministry of Technology announced that its draft artificial intelligence (AI) national strategy was open for public consultation. The draft strategy, developed through collaborating with the Committee on Formulating a Strategy for AI (CFSAI), focuses on:
- strengthening key foundational enablers: data, skills, infrastructure, R&D, and public awareness;
- accelerating AI utilization through public sector transformation and private sector stimulation; and
- ensuring safe and trustworthy AI through iterative governance, responsible practices, and public engagement.
Submitting comments
The public consultation period is open for four months, and comments can be submitted until January 6, 2025, via email at [email protected].
