Rhineland-Palatinate: LfDI Rhineland-Pfalz launches information campaign for email advertising and newsletters
On June 17, 2024, the Rhineland-Palatinate data protection authority (LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz) announced the launch of an information campaign. According to the LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz, the campaign aims to raise awareness among responsible parties regarding data protection requirements and reduce data protection violations. The LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz also highlighted that in 2023, around 70 complaints were received regarding data protection requirements. The LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz stated that information letters were sent to 30 companies and cultural institutions in Rheinland-Palatinate from various sectors that send emails and newsletters, highlighting issues and explaining applicable regulations. The LfDI Rheinland-Pfalz also noted that the responsible parties were not selected due to violations, but because they utilized certain types of communications.
