Oman: MOLA publishes Royal Decree amending Law on Combating Communicable Diseases
The Ministry of Legal Affairs ('MOLA') published, on 1 April 2020, Royal Decree No. 32/2020 ('the Royal Decree'), which was issued on 23 March 2020, and which amends some provisions of the Law on Combating Communicable Diseases ('the Amended Law'). In particular, the Amended Law highlights that all data and information relating to a person infected with a communicable disease is confidential, and it is not permitted to disclose such data except in cases prescribed by law, or with the written consent of that person. The Royal Decree notes that it will come into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
