New South Wales: IPC publishes annual report

The Information and Privacy Commission ('IPC') published, on 1 November 2022, its annual report for 2021/2022. In particular, the IPC stated that the report documents its work and achievements throughout the 2021/2022 reporting period, and highlights, among other things, the following statistics:

  • finalisation of 40 strategic and regulatory initiatives across the previous and current strategic and regulatory plans;
  • finalisation of 764 information access and privacy reviews and complaints;
  • provision of 387 information access and privacy advice provided to support compliance by agencies;
  • finalisation of four proactive information access audits and one privacy audit;
  • 3,140 enquiries dealt with from the public; and
  • raising awareness of privacy and information access rights with the release of 28 new information access, privacy, and corporate publications, as well as 34 updated publications.
