Mauritius: Government publishes 2020-2024 programme

The Government of Mauritius ('the Government') published, on 24 January 2020, its 2020-2024 programme ('the Programme'). In particular, the Programme outlines that the Government will introduce, among other things, relevant legislation to consolidate cybersecurity, encourage online and cashless transactions, and promote an open data culture. In addition the Programme highlights that the Bank of Mauritius is working on the creation of a central bank digital currency, as well as developing a modern technology-driven payment system.
