Kazakhstan: Mazhilis approves digital technology bill on second reading

The Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan ('the Mazhilis') announced, on 29 April 2020, that it had approved the digital technologies regulation bill ('the Bill') on its second reading. In particular, Mazhilis noted that the Bill introduces 375 amendments to laws for the regulation of technologies, including Big Data, artificial intelligence, financial services, and data protection. In addition, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan ('MDAI') clarified that the Bill will now be sent for approval by the Senate.
