Ivory Coast: ARTCI announces launch of Permanent Exchange Framework
The Telecommunications/ICT Regulatory Authority of Côte d'Ivoire ('ARTCI') announced, on 21 October 2022, that it has set up a Permanent Exchange Framework ('CPE') for the protection of personal data between the ARTCI and various actors featuring, among others, professional associations, telecommunications companies, consumer associations, training firms, lawyers, the order of doctors, private clinics, and banks. In particular, the ARTCI stated that the CPE is intended to:
- strengthen the ARTCI's action;
- involve more actors in the protection of personal data and the compliance of data controllers with Law No. 2013-450 of 19 June 2013 on the protection of Personal Data ('Law No. 2013-450'); and
- to analyse innovative ideas, concrete contributions, as well as relevant proposals with a view to better implement Law No. 2013-450.
Lastly, addressing the stakeholders present at the launch ceremony, Director General of the ARTCI, Namahoua Touré, stated that he "would therefore like to urge each of [them] to actively participate in the meetings that will follow one another over the coming weeks in order to contribute to the establishment of a regulatory framework conducive to the development of the sector of activity relating to the protection of personal data for a flourishing digital economy in Côte d'Ivoire".
