Israel: Law on access to digital content after death published in law book

On July 23, 2024, the Parliament (Knesset) announced the publication of the Law on Access to Digital Content after a Person's Death in the law book. The law will enter into force on July 23, 2025.

The law requires providers of online services used for sharing, distributing, or storing personal content, to determine and publish rules regarding the manner of handling personal content (any content that the user created, edited, or saved) after the user's death and to provide access to it after a person's death. The providers are required to allow their users to choose whether they want to allow another person to have access to their personal content in the service (in whole or in part) after their death, or if they do not want such access to be given to any person.

You can read the law here and view its legislative history here, both only available in Hebrew.
