Illinois: Bill prohibiting use of AI for child pornography passes Senate
On May 26, 2024, House Bill 4623 amending the Criminal Code, among other things passed its third reading in the Illinois State Senate. This follows the bill's passage by the House of Representatives on April 18, 2024.
The bill creates the offenses of obscene depiction of a purported child and non-consensual dissemination of sexually explicit digitized depictions.
The bill also provides that 'child pornography' includes the depiction of a part of an actual child under the age of 18 years who, by manipulation, creation, or modification, prohibits non-consensual dissemination of sexually explicit digitized depictions of children.
