Hawaii: House bill for consumer health data passes House and first reading in Senate, referred to Committees
On March 7, 2024, House Bill 1566 relating to consumer health data passed the first reading in the Hawaii State Senate and thereafter was referred to the Senate Committees on Commerce and Consumer Protection, Health and Human Services, Judiciary, and Ways and Means, after passing the third reading in the Hawaii House of Representatives on March 5, 2024. In particular, the bill states that its purpose is to close the gap between consumer knowledge and industry practice by providing privacy protections for Hawaii residents and their consumer health data.
