Canada: CSA requests stakeholder feedback on guidance on use of AI systems in capital markets

On December 5, 2024, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) announced that it had published Staff Notice and Consultation 11-348 Applicability of Canadian Securities Laws and the Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems in Capital Markets.

The Guidance addresses considerations for registrants, reporting issuers, marketplaces, and other market participants that may leverage artificial intelligence (AI) systems. The Guidance highlights:

  • the importance of maintaining transparency;
  • ensuring accountability; and
  • mitigating risks.

How to submit comments?

The CSA outlined that it invites responses to the consultation questions available on the CSA members' websites until March 31, 2025.
